Liver Cancer Surgery

Hepatic cancer is also known as hepatocellular carcinoma. The choice of the ideal surgical intervention depends on the number of tumors in the liver and the stage of the disease.

There are two types of liver cancer surgeries. They are:

1. Hepatic Resection
Involves removing the areas of the liver affected by cancer.

A hepatic resection is a surgical procedure in which the areas of the liver with tumors are removed. The portion of the liver removed depends on the size and location of the tumor.

The liver has the ability to regenerate, making this surgical intervention ideal in many cases. Even if about 80% of the liver is removed, it can regain its shape within a few weeks.

2. Liver Transplantation
Involves removing the diseased liver and replacing it with a healthy liver from a donor.

A liver transplant is a surgical procedure that aims to completely remove the diseased liver and replace it with a healthy liver from another person.

When available, a liver transplant can be the best option for some people with tumors that cannot be removed by hepatic resection due to the advanced stage of the disease.

With a transplant, not only is the risk of a second new liver cancer greatly reduced, but the new liver can also function normally!

Cu un transplant, nu numai că riscul unui al doilea nou cancer hepatic este mult redus, dar noul ficat poate funcționa normal!

If you suffer from hepatic cancer, schedule a consultation to receive the best and fully personalized treatment!
